Office Manager
A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a four day a week office manager and receptionist to join Granta Publications, one of the most independent-minded and prestigious literary book publishers in the UK.
Granta Publications publishes around 35 new titles a year in literary fiction and non-fiction as well as the quarterly magazine Granta. It provides authors with the intimacy of a small, passionate and creative team while consistently punching above its weight in review coverage, prizes, cultural impact and sales.
You will be responsible for answering incoming calls, taking messages, welcoming visitors, responding to general emails, providing refreshments for meetings, incoming and outgoing mail; and maintaining stock levels of books, the books archive, stationery and other office supplies. You will support the editorial, sales, rights and publicity departments with mailouts, handling permissions requests, handling direct sales from the website and ad hoc requests. You will oversee general administrative and building-related tasks, including keeping the building clean and tidy, health and safety checks, arranging office moves; maintaining the building equipment contracts, arranging contractors required for building maintenance, arranging the annual social events.
The ideal candidate will want to settle into the role for the long term, and will enjoy supporting the smooth running of a busy office. You will be part of a small, friendly and committed team.
The successful candidate will be friendly, enthusiastic and well-presented. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work well under pressure, and a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. You will need a first-rate telephone manner, and be able to work on your own initiative. Previous experience in another front of house role will be a strong advantage.
Salary £25,000 to £27,500 (full-time equivalent) depending on experience.
